The CCT program aims to create students that investigate technology as a dynamic aspect of human social life. As a part of the “Fundamentals of Technology” course, we studied how technology, communication, and culture all shape human interaction by opening the black box of the high pressure sodium bulb.
In order to do so, we explored the bulb’s socio-technical system, explained how its components work at a technical level, how it shapes and has been shaped by social decisions, and how it affects the lives of its users.
